Suicide Watch and Psychology Observation 
Suicide Watch 
Inmates are determined to be suicidal. They are placed in a suicide watch smock and provided a suicide 
watch blanket and suicide watch slippers. They are given a paper spoon. Inmates are watched by inmate 
companions or staff 24 hours a day. They are seen by psychology staff at least once a day. Legal visits 
are determined on an individual basis. 
Psychology Observation 
Inmates are determined not suicidal or at imminent risk of suicide. They may be stepped down from 
suicide watch, be exhibiting psychotic symptoms, or exhibit mental health concerns. Inmates are watched 
by inmate companions or staff 24 hours a day. They are seen by psychology staff at least once a day. 
The inmates are provided with spoons to eat. They are allowed to remain in the inmate uniforms. Other 
privileges are given as approved (toothbrush, books, paper and pen, legal pen).
